Veolia's SENTX site needed continuous vehicle-speed monitoring without dependable mains power or internet access.

The operating constraint

The site had continuous vehicle traffic. Occasional manual checks could not provide a complete record, and the equipment had to keep working outdoors in severe weather.

The useful outcome was not simply a camera feed. The operator needed evidence: which vehicle was involved, when an incident happened, and a record that could be reviewed later.

What EventBinder built

RoadKeeper joined the field equipment and operating software into one system:

  • Live video and automatic number-plate recognition at the site
  • Solar power, smart energy management, and seven-day battery backup
  • Equipment readings and long-range communication for warnings and records
  • Weather-resistant outdoor equipment
  • An office screen with the incident history and a review record

Processing the important information at the site meant the system could still do its main job when the internet connection was poor.

Support and engineering after installation

The live system was only one part of the work. EventBinder also produced monthly trend and exception reporting; pre-work risk assessments and method statements covering responsibilities, controls, and site coordination; and post-weather inspections across the structure, power, network, and connected devices.

Inspection findings were turned into written repair and improvement plans. That follow-through matters: an office screen is useful only when somebody remains responsible for the equipment and the decisions behind it.

Reported result

After the roadside warning display was introduced, project records showed that the average speed of vehicles in the speeding group fell by 12%. This figure describes average speed, not the number of speeding incidents. The same operating platform also created a base for wider safety and risk-management work.

The main lesson is straightforward: a system used outdoors must be designed around the real site. Software, communication, power and equipment are one problem when the work depends on all four.
